Survive an Economic Meltdown

If something like the great depression happened now, it would be much more chaotic.
If the dollar becomes worthless you will not be able to buy things you need to live. We will have a barter society. The most valuable and fungible goods will be 1) bullets, 2) medical supplies, and 3) non-perishable food (wheat, rice, grains, etc...).
If there is no food in the stores everyone will be starving. You need to have adequate food storage to support you and your family. Additionally, you should learn basic hunting, trapping, fishing, and agricultural skills so that you can be self-sufficient even when your food storage runs out.
If there are no hospitals open for business, you will not be able to get medical treatment. You should learn basic first aid, and even some advanced stitching, suturing and setting of broken bones. You should also stock up on medical supplies.
If everyone else around you is lacking in food, water, medical supplies, shelter, etc...sadly, it won't be long before looters take everything they can. People will kill each other. The number one solution to this problem is to be far away from crowded cities so that you can avoid these confrontations. The number two solution to this problem is arming yourself with weapons, ammunition, and the training necessary to defend yourself and your loved ones from looters and murderers.
